national characters

I'm in Noosa now for my 6th week and I enjoy every single day. One of the reasons why I wanted to go to an English College in Australia was, that I heard Australian people are so open minded, friendly and easy going.
So I decided to spend three months school in Australia/Noosa. Now after 5 weeks I have to say it's true. To live in Australia is much easier than to live in an European country or mainly in Austria. If you go to a bar or club in Australia, it's so easy to meet new people and start to chat with them. Also if you just wait infront of a cash mashine or in the queue of a supermarket. They are always friendly and seem to be really interested in you and your stories. You feel like Australian people are really happy to meet people from Europe. Why? I heard many reasons. A lot of people say that they are very interested in the European culture and the many different countries. And the guys always say, that the European girls are the most beautiful girls they ever met. But people can say a lot and I don't know if it's true.
A nother thing I love in Australia is, that people are so helpful. If you have any questions or if you are looking for your way, they try to help you as good as they can.
I think Australian people are very extroverted mainly the young people. It doesn't depend if boys or girls, they are always making party and talking to everybody in the club. I don't know if one reason why I meet so many new people is that I'm European, but it's fun and I enjoy having conversations with new people.
For sure, you also meet new people in an Austian bar, but it's not that normal than in Australia. In Salzburg you normally go out with a group of friends and stay in that group. That doesn't mean, that we don't accept new people and if we meet someone new some of us could also be as friendly as the Australians, but it's not that usual. I don't know if it's a problem in whole Europe, but in Salzburg we have a lot of different groups of people. So for example we've got the group of young foreign people from the East European countries and Turky. You see them always in big groups which are looking for trouble. Those people could become very agressive and nearly every weekend the police has to arrest one of them because of fights or because of the possession of weapons or knifes. Next we've got the Austrian teenis. They are nearly the same like the group before. You just meet them in groups which are looking for trouble. In Austria we've got a big problem with the alcoolism of young people. They start to drink at 6 o'clock in the evening and then go to the club around ten. To be honest, when I go out I try not to meet those groups, because you can get into real trouble if you say something wrong. Next we've got the group of students, who are having party nearly every day. Most of them are really friendly and open minded and try to meet new people and finde new friends. If you go to a student bar, there is always a familar athmosphere and you feel always welcome.
The next group we have in Salzburg is the group of our high society. It's the group of people who think they are better than other people just because they have money and blond, thin girls to their left. Most of them own a cloth shop or are emmployees or Red Bull. Maybe you've got a few actors or sports, but that's it. We've got to bars for those people, so if you want to meet arrogant, selfish and stupid people who just talk about money and their cars, or women maybe about their breast implantat or their colourd hair, then you are very welcome to go to these bars.
But there are also just the normal Austrian people who become really friendly if you know them for a longer time. Yea, you can call them a little bit introverted, but sometimes I think thats better than you meet people who are always friendly and afterwards you find out that they are wrong friends.

my hoste family

When I arranged everything for my trip to Australia three months ago, I decided to stay in a student house. I thought it would be the best way to have freedom and meet a lot of new people. So I was very upset, when my travelagent informed me, that there was no free room left in the student house. I was a little bit angry, because I didn't want to go to a hoste family, eat with them every evening and share the bath room with them. One week later the travelagent called me again and asked me if it would be okay, when I stay at a family's house, but buy my own food and look after me for my own. That was a great idea and I agreed to stay at a family's house. When I arrived in Noosa I was really looking forward to meet my new familiy. I was really lucky. I've never met such a nice couple as my hoste parents here in Noosa. After two days I felt like a member of the family.
I have got my own apartement. I've got my own kitchen, my own living room my own bathroom and I've got a huge terrasse with a pool. The first two weeks I stayed there on my own and enjoyed the time of having my own privat area. At the end of the second week my hoste parents told me, that they have to go to Brisbane, because my hoste father has a brain cancer. They asked me if it would be okay for me to stay in the house on my own and look after their dogs and their cat during the week. Also in the third week a nother student from France arrived. Now we are two students living in the house on our own. During the week we are looking after the animals, sometimes we go with them for a walk, looking after the house or put the dustbints outside once a week. During the weekend my hoste family come back from Brisbane to enjoy their weekends in Noosa.
Last week I met their family, their two daughters, their boyfriends and their own children.
I love this family and I'm really happy that I can stay all 12 weeks in their house.
